South African Renewable Energy Technology Centre
The South African Renewable Energy Technology Centre is a national centre for renewable energy training and education. It is located in Cape Town, South Africa at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology Bellville campus.
We are proud to have organized the training of South Africa’s first 11 qualified Wind Turbine Service Technicians and South Africa’s first 8 trainers to deliver this qualification at SARETEC.
Facilities
The SARETEC building will showcase sustainable energy principles. The building itself will be used as a working laboratory for training and education in renewable energy and energy efficiency. SARETEC facilities will include:
- offices and facilities for permanent, contract and visiting staff.
- library and online workspace for staff, students and visitors.
- a lecture theatre (150 seats), three classrooms, laboratory-classrooms (hydraulics, electrics, solar), solar/wind control room, turbine hall, mechanical workshop and a composites workshop.
- personal protection equipment, a tower for working at heights and fire fighting training equipment.
