Product Lifecycle Management Competency Center (PLMCC)
The Product Lifecycle Management Competency Center (PLMCC) is a center that trains students, technicians, technologists, engineers and industrial designers in the art of product design, product lifecycle management (PLM), and system engineering. The PLMCC takes part in numerous projects, which mainly focuses on design and simulation, however project management, manufacturing simulation and behavior modeling are also part of the development process. The PLMCC is, therefore, able to handle projects of a multidisciplinary nature.
PLM is the simulation of the entire lifecycle of a product using advanced PLM tools. PLM is the process of simulating and managing the entire lifecycle of a product from its conception, through design and manufacture, to service and recycling. PLM integrates people, data, processes and business systems and provides a product information backbone for companies and their extended enterprise.
The PLMCC is destined to play an indispensable role in the training of engineers and designers in PLM and the use of modern innovative technologies for product innovation and manufacturing. This will provide the knowledge and skills necessary for participation in the highly competitive aerospace, automotive, space and energy industries.
