HIV/AIDS unit receives Awqaf Foundation award
TEAMWORK: HIV/Aids Unit head, Professor Ashraf Mohammed, and his staff’s morale got a major boost when their work got recognition from an independent foundation.
Professor Ashraf Mohammed, head of the CPUT HIV/Aids Unit was recently awarded by an independent foundation for spearheading programmes which strive towards achieving excellence in the HIV/AIDS programs.
Disability driving expo
INNOVATIVE: The CPUT project team led by Professors Mugendi M’Rithaa (Department of Design) and Oscar Philander (Adaptronics/Engineering) which is busy building a car adapted for people with disabilities.
CPUT is using innovation to accomplish disability inclusivity with its Informatics and Design as well as Engineering faculties collaborating to build a car adapted for people with disabilities.
Community engagement success
INNOVATION: The CPUT soccer team assembled by the HIV/Aids Unit used soccer to convey the Aids message to Malmesbury Prison’s inmates at the prison.
The CPUT HIV/Aids Unit has taken community engagement to another level by assembling a soccer team to play against prisoners at the Malmesbury Correctional Service.
Aids conference for universities and FETs
COMMITMENT: Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Mduduzi Manana committed himself to making the necessary interventions when HEAIDS encounters funding problems.
South African tertiary institutions took a giant leap forward in the fight against HIV and Aids when they recently launched a national strategic policy framework at a conference held at UCT.
