Unit for Strategic Initiatives and Projects
Internationalization stands out as one of the most influential catalysts for transformation in contemporary higher education. Given this perspective, the Strategic Initiatives and Projects (SIP) office within the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences is dedicated to the following objectives:
- Cultivating a multicultural ecosystem to facilitate and promote internationalization.
- Nurturing national collaborations and partnerships to bolster internationalization efforts, including intra-nationalization initiatives.
- Creating a supportive educational environment and experience that equips our students, as well as incoming exchange students, at all levels, to navigate global political and social landscapes.
- Establishing international alliances and partnerships to enhance our capacity and capabilities in education, research, enterprise, knowledge, and commercial exchanges.

Information for incoming International Exchange Students

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology is at the heart of technology education and innovation in Africa. Serving as the sole university of technology in the Western Cape, it holds the distinction of being the largest university in the region, boasting an enrollment exceeding 30,000 students. The main campuses are in Bellville and the Cape Town city bowl.

The Faculty of Business and Management Sciences houses a specialized office known as the Unit for Strategic Initiatives and Projects, which facilitates the study abroad and International Student Exchange program.
Important Dates and Links
Here are important dates and links that incoming international exchange or study abroad students may find helpful:
CPUT's academic year typically starts in early February and concludes in early December. The first semester spans from February to mid-June, while the second semester commences in mid-July and extends until December.
Overview and Application Procedure
It is essential to emphasize that applications from incoming international exchange students will only be reviewed upon receipt of an official nomination from your home university. Therefore, any inquiries regarding nominations should be directed to the International Office at your home university. Once we receive your formal nomination, the International Exchange Office will reach out to you. It is crucial to have all necessary supporting documents prepared to facilitate the processing of your application.

- Letter of Motivation
- Completed CPUT Application Form
Incoming exchange students at CPUT do not pay tuition fees, but they are responsible for the compulsory cultural orientation programme cost (250 Euros). Typically, students spend one semester at CPUT, enrolling in undergraduate courses to transfer credits to their home institution (as part of ECTS). To fulfill the requirement of 30 ECTS for a full semester equivalent, students must enroll in a minimum of four subjects within a specific department in the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences.
