Project Management is a carefully planned and organised effort to accomplish a specific (and usually) one-time efforts, for example, construct a building. Project Management includes developing a project plan, which includes defining project goals and objectives, specifying tasks or how goals will be achieved, what resources are needed, and associating budgets and timelines for completion and all these elements are controlled and measured with the application of Quality Management processes. It also includes implementing the project quality planning, along with careful controls to stay on the "critical path", that is, to ensure the plan is being managed according to plan and that the deliverable meets customer or client requirements. Project Quality sits inside the Project Management phases (with various titles for these phases); including feasibility study, project planning, implementation, evaluation and support/maintenance.

There is a worldwide need for supply chain management (SCM) practitioners because as organizations become larger and more complex; they need their primary and support activities to be incorporated in such a way that the varying wants of stakeholders may be appeased. In essence, an effective supply chain manager is a specialist in logistics, quality assurance and a generalist in management and particularly general management. He or she therefore needs to fully understand the various logistics activities, be well conversant in the four management tasks (planning, organizing, leading and controlling) and fully understand the management functional areas such as marketing, HR, operations, finance andso on. The secret of effective and efficient SCM lies in the supply chain manager’s ability to integrate all of the aforementioned logistics activities, the four management tasks and various management functional areas,so that the requirements of up and down-stream customers may be satisfied as effectively and cost efficiently as possible. As an organization can use SCM to differentiate itself against its competitors and use such unique attributes to obtain a competitive advantage, effective SCM can lead to reduced costs, improved sales, increased product and service quality, higher profits and as importantly enhanced stakeholder Relationships. No wonder SCM has become one of the most sought after careers worldwide!

I met beautiful people, learn about other cultures. Learning English at CPUT was such a great experience that I will never ever forget. Those who want to learn English in Cape while having fun, CPUT is here for you. I am sure you will not regret it at all.
I chose the short course at CPUT, because I am a mom of a two year old. Doing a correspondance course just wouldn’t work for me. CPUT offers evening classes, which enabled me to attend classes for 6 months. I absolutely enjoyed attending the classes, I also learnt a lot and made friends within the similar fields and with similar interest. Thank you CPUT and the SCM team.
