Academic Excellence Campus Award

Award for Student Excellence
Preamble
This document serves as a transparent and comprehensive framework for the various campus excellence award categories that CPUT would like to present annually. The Vice-Chancellor will determine the awards, considering multiple factors such as academic excellence, leadership qualities, and community service. This guideline document will ensure that the awards are fair, transparent, and consistent and reflect CPUT's values and aspirations.
The Vice Chancellor's Excellence Campus Awards, a highly esteemed recognition, is a testament to the exceptional contributions of student leaders who have profoundly impacted their respective campuses during a particular year.

Eligibility
- The awards will be made towards the end of a particular year and before the University closes for the festive season. In other words, candidates will be assessed over at least eleven months.
- The University recognises the importance of acknowledging outstanding students who have contributed to the institution's reputation. As such, awards will be granted to students who have demonstrated stability in their performance, showcased excellence in the categories outlined in Paragraph 3, and exceeded expectations.
- To be eligible for the award, students must have a proven track record of outstanding performance in a particular area. Additionally, they must have demonstrated a commitment to the University's values and mission and positively impacted the campus community.
- The awards will be presented at a special ceremony to recognise exceptional performance as demonstrated on a particular campus. The university hopes this recognition will inspire other students to strive for excellence and contribute positively to the institution's reputation.
- A well-motivated nomination, accompanied by evidence, will be required to qualify for an award.
- The selection committee reserves the right not to make an award in more or one more category.
Nominations and the Criteria
The Office of the Vice-Chancellor makes an annual call for nominations, which should be sent to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor by 31 October of a particular year. Nominations must include a well-formulated motivation and evidence of a deserving nominee’s excellence.
Selection Process
The Vice-Chancellor will chair the Award Committee, as outlined in Paragraph 2. Members of the Committee may not make nominations. The Committee may collect additional information as deemed necessary.
Notification of the Outcome
The successful nominees will be informed in writing via email as soon as the Committee has made its final decisions.
The Award recipients and a specified number of guests will be invited to the Vice-Chancellor's Awards Ceremony, where Certificates will be given to acknowledge such achievements. A trophy will be given to the award-winning campus(es) from which the students come.
