In Remembrance
The CPUT Dome of Remembrance, located on the Bellville Campus, is a place of memory, reflection and honour. It commemorates members and friends of the CPUT community who have passed away, including staff and former staff members, students, alumni, Council members, honorary doctorate recipients and friends of the University.
The Dome provides a dedicated space where the University community can remember those who have departed, celebrate their lives and contributions, and acknowledge the lasting impact they have had on CPUT and society.
More than a physical memorial, the Dome represents CPUT's commitment to preserving institutional memory and honouring those who have contributed to the University's story. Their achievements, service and connection to CPUT remain part of the legacy of the institution.
Following the relaunch of the Dome of Remembrance in October 2023, CPUT established an annual ceremony to honour members of the University community who have passed away. The inaugural ceremony was held in November 2024, establishing what has become an annual University tradition — CPUT Remembrance Day.
